About Legacy Foundation

Legacy Foundation is the community foundation for Lake County, Indiana. The foundation offers grants to nonprofit organizations that are serving our communities and scholarships to high school students attending college. Legacy Foundation partners with community leaders and residents to identify community needs and work together to identify a common solution. The foundation also works with donors to help them plan their charitable giving.

The Future of Legacy Foundation

Legacy Foundation will always remain here serving Lake County– that’s the beauty of a community endowment. In the future, Legacy will go deeper into our community leadership work and our transformational approaches to grants and scholarships. We will continue to become more of a learning and impact-driven organization.

Doing Business in Northwest Indiana

Once I started working for Legacy Foundation, it really opened my eyes to everything the Northwest Indiana community has to offer – organizations, events, residents, and culture. Sometimes, unless you look for it, it’s hard to find those opportunities. Part of what we do, and what the Chamber does, is try to promote all the great things that are happening; the great businesses, people and the events that make our communities strong.

Why I Joined Northwest Indiana’s Chamber of Commerce

I believe that Legacy and the Chamber have parallel goals. We’ve identified entrepreneurship as a priority at Legacy Foundation. They’re working to serve small businesses and entrepreneurs. Ultimately, we have different approaches, but we’re both working to strengthen our communities. Due to this, I believe we work well together. There are great networking opportunities at the Chamber, and they provide great speakers at their events and their lunches.

About Kelly Anoe

Kelly Anoe grew up in Lynwood, Illinois before moving to Indiana. After graduating from Governor’s State with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, she started working for non-profit organizations. Kelly worked in various positions before returning to school for an MBA from Purdue University Northwest. From there, she transitioned into advocacy and nonprofit management. After working for a non-profit in the south suburbs, Kelly Anoe joined the Legacy Foundation family as the director of grants and partnerships before being promoted to President and CEO in August of 2022.
