Insurance Relief for Storm-Impacted Businesses
The Indiana Department of Insurance has issued a 60-day moratorium on insurance cancellations and nonrenewals due to storm-related missed payments for affected policyholders. The relief applies to all lines of insurance, with late-payment penalties also suspended.
If your business experienced damage:
- Contact your insurance provider as soon as possible.
- Take photos and videos before cleanup or repairs.
- Keep receipts for repairs and emergency expenses.
- Document damaged equipment, property and inventory.
- Track business interruptions, closures and related losses.
- Keep copies of all estimates, invoices and insurance correspondence.
Important: The moratorium provides additional time for affected policyholders to make payments but does not eliminate premiums owed.
Federal Disaster Assistance
Additional assistance for businesses may become available as the federal disaster declaration process continues.
SBA Disaster Assistance
If activated for this disaster, SBA programs may provide assistance for physical business damage and economic losses.
