[Gary, Indiana, July 20, 2026] — Methodist Hospitals has received an “A” Grade in Social Responsibility and five of its component measures on the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility. Methodist was ranked #1 in the state on Inclusivity, demonstrating special excellence in the diversity of its staff and in treating all community members equally, regardless of race or socioeconomic status.

Methodist also received the following additional accolades on the Lown Index:

● Top 5 in Indiana for Cost Efficiency and Racial Inclusivity

● ‘A’ grades in Clinical Outcomes and Health Equity

The Lown Hospitals Index is the only national ranking that examines how equitably care is delivered, how well hospitals invest in their communities, and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures, in addition to clinical measures. More than 50 metrics contribute to a hospital’s overall score.

“We are gratified that our commitment to delivering cost-efficient and high quality care to our diverse community with an equally diverse staff have been recognized by the Lown Institute,” said Methodist Hospitals President and CEO Matt Doyle.

“The best hospitals aren’t just clinically excellent, they’re deeply committed to the communities they serve and work hard to ensure all patients get the care they need,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “High performance on the Lown Index shows that hospitals are doing more of what matters to patients and communities.”
