Tech Credit Union has elected Corey Campbell, Business Manager of LIUNA Local 81, to its Board of Directors, reinforcing the credit union’s long-standing commitment to organized labor and working families across Northwest Indiana. Campbell’s hands-on experience in the skilled trades and union leadership brings valuable perspective as Tech Credit Union continues to expand trusted financial services, strengthen member relationships, and support long-term financial stability for union households throughout the region.

Campbell is a proud resident of La Porte County, where he lives with his wife, Jessica, and their two children. His strong connection to family and community has remained a driving force throughout his career and service.

After graduating from Chesterton High School, Campbell began his career with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 81 in Valparaiso as an apprentice. He completed an intensive apprenticeship program that included 432 hours of classroom instruction and 4,000 hours of on-the-job training before advancing to refractory work at the mills along the Northwest Indiana lakefront and later earning a promotion to foreman.

His dedication to advocacy and member representation led to his appointment as a LIUNA Local 81 Organizer and later Field Representative. Today, he serves as Business Manager of LIUNA Local 81, representing nearly 1,400 members and focusing on safety, workforce advancement, and family-sustaining careers in the construction industry.

Campbell’s commitment to service began early. At just 18 years old, he volunteered with the Chesterton Fire Department, earning multiple state certifications through extensive training. His community involvement has continued through service on the Board of Trustees for the Construction Workers Pension Trust Fund, the Northern Indiana Area Labor Federation Board, and the La Porte, Starke, and Pulaski Building & Construction Trades Council.

He has also served on the La Porte County Library Board and currently holds leadership roles with the LaPorte County Regional Sewer & Water District, the LIUNA State of Indiana District Council, and other regional organizations focused on economic coordination and community development.

Campbell’s election to the Board reflects Tech Credit Union’s continued investment in leaders who understand the realities of the workforce firsthand. His background in apprenticeship, skilled trades, and labor leadership brings valuable perspective to the credit union as it continues supporting members, strengthening local economies, and expanding opportunities for working families throughout Northwest Indiana and Illinois.
