Lowcountry Expands to Five Locations

Merrillville, Indiana Opens on October 9

Lowcountry, the innovative seafood boil restaurant concept founded by Pan and Dana Hompluem in 2015, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its newest location in Merrillville, Indiana on Wednesday, October 9. Located at 8239 Georgia St., this latest addition marks the fifth location for the brand, with three popular spots in Chicago (Lakeview; South Loop; Chinatown) and one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Lowcountry is known for its bold, flavorful sauces paired with fresh seafood boils, offering a hands-on, communal dining experience. Guests are encouraged to dig into their meals with their hands, just like at a backyard seafood boil, with bibs provided to keep things fun and casual. The laid-back, welcoming atmosphere is perfect for sharing a meal with family and friends.

“Our mission has always been to create a space where people can enjoy great food and even better company in a relaxed, unpretentious setting,” said Pan Hompluem, co-founder of Lowcountry. “The focus is on the food, and we can’t wait to bring that experience to Merrillville.”

The restaurant operates with “half-service” dining; guests are seated by a host, then order their seafood boils at the counter and the food is delivered to their table to enjoy. This efficient model ensures that the emphasis remains on the bold flavors and communal dining experience, with the food taking center stage.

The public is welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting and grand opening event at 4:15 p.m. on October 9 to fully experience what makes Lowcountry a seafood lover’s go-to spot for fresh, flavorful seafood boils. Opening week, as well as future dates, will feature live music Wednesday-Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Lowcountry Merrillville’s hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 12-9 p.m. For menus and more information, visit LowcountryRestaurant.com.
