GIRLS ON THE RUN NORTHWEST INDIANA ANNOUNCES SPRING 2025 “GO BANANAS!” 5K SERIES

Griffith, IN – Girls on the Run Northwest Indiana (GOTR NWI) is thrilled to announce its Spring 2025 5K Series, featuring the energetic theme “Go Bananas!”. This celebratory event series will bring together thousands of participants from across Northwest and West Central Indiana for three unforgettable 5K events, encouraging girls, their families and community members to embrace joy, movement and personal achievement. This season is their biggest one yet with 1,650 girls participating this Spring.

The Spring 2025 “Go Bananas” 5K Series will take place at three locations:

Terre Haute 5K – Sunday, May 4, 2025
Location: Indiana State University Memorial Stadium
Time: Pre-5K Festival begins at 8am CST; 5K begins at 10am CST

Highland 5K – Saturday, May 17, 2025
Location: Highland High School
Time: Pre-5K Festival begins at 8am CST; 5K begins at 10am CST

Valparaiso 5K – Sunday, May 18, 2025
Location: Valparaiso High School
Time: Pre-5K Festival begins at 12pm EDT; 5K begins at 1pm EDT

Girls on the Run Pre-5K Festivals include music, interactive activities, vendors and photo opportunities- fun for the whole family!

“Our 5Ks are about more than just running- it’s a powerful moment of achievement for every girl who crosses that finish line,” said Jill Schlueter-Kim, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Northwest Indiana. “This year’s ‘Go Bananas!’ theme is all about celebrating joy, energy and having fun while challenging ourselves. We want our participants to leave these events feeling empowered, knowing they are strong, capable and unstoppable.”

The “Go Bananas” 5K Series is open to the public, welcoming runners, walkers, volunteers and families to be part of this high-energy celebration. Whether participating alongside a GOTR girl, helping at a water station or cheering from the sidelines, everyone has a role in making these events a success.
