Humane Indiana Resale is welcoming a new vintage treasure trove to its Highland store. Local business owner Karen Maravilla, the face behind It’s Just Serendipity in Downtown Hammond, will begin consigning hand-selected vintage items at the store—merging her love of timeless pieces with a powerful purpose: supporting animal well-being.

“It’s Just Serendipity” is known for its carefully curated vintage finds, charming home décor, and unique gifts. Now, shoppers at Humane Indiana Resale will enjoy Karen’s signature style while knowing that proceeds from every purchase directly benefit the homeless and injured animals cared for by Humane Indiana.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Karen and bring her distinct eye for vintage to our customers,” said Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO of Humane Indiana. “This collaboration blends style and heart—offering the community a beautiful way to support local animals in need.”

Karen, who has been a longtime supporter of regional revitalization and local causes, shared her excitement for this next chapter: “I’ve always believed that beautiful things can tell a story—and now, those stories can help save lives. I’m honored to be part of Humane Indiana Resale’s mission and can’t wait for shoppers to discover something special.”

Linsey Carrigan, Store Manager of Humane Indiana Resale, added, “Karen’s pieces add a vintage flare to our store, and her support will help us expand our impact.”

Karen’s items will be available starting in May 2025, and shoppers are encouraged to visit the Highland location regularly to discover new vintage treasures with purpose.

Humane Indiana Resale is located at 8149 Kennedy Ave, Highland and open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm; and Friday and Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. Every item purchased helps provide shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation for the animals Humane Indiana serves.
