Northwest Indiana – On July 1, 2024, after two decades of unwavering service as Community Healthcare System, a new era commences with the introduction of Powers Health. This strategic shift signifies a consolidation of the brand under a singular and distinct identity, while the commitment to exceptional and compassionate care remains resolute.

In the realm of healthcare, a name change often prompts concerns. Powers Health represents an evolution of Community Healthcare System, deliberately undertaken to present the organization as an integrated system of care, providing seamless and comprehensive services across all facilities.

“We will continue to invest resources throughout Northwest Indiana by building new facilities and expanding services,” assures Donald P. Fesko, CEO of Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, inc., the parent company of Community Healthcare System. “With the support of some of the area’s most talented medical professionals, we are proud to have earned numerous national accreditations and distinguished recognitions for high-quality care and innovative technology.”

The new name pays homage to the impactful legacy of Donald S. Powers, a visionary community leader who played a pivotal role in establishing the flagship Community Hospital. Powers’ dedication laid the foundation for the robust integrated system that exists today, driven by a commitment to bringing advanced healthcare services to Northwest Indiana.

Powers Health operates as an integrated system, offering easy access to specialty and advanced care in Northwest Indiana. Noteworthy highlights include advanced cancer programs, comprehensive heart treatments, full-service neuroscience programs, orthopedic advancements, and a certified stroke center. Patients, employees, and stakeholders can anticipate a unified identity, shared excellence among medical professionals, and the sustained reputation of providing high-level care.

The names of acute care hospitals remain unchanged, operating collaboratively under Powers Health. Recognizing that change raises questions and Powers Health is committed to transparent communication. The system will actively engage with employees, patients, and the community throughout this transition.
